Welcome to Earth & Elements Jewellery! Here you'll find answers to some of our most frequently asked questions about our jewellery, sizing, delivery, returns and caring for your treasured pieces.

Is your jewellery handmade?

Many of our jewellery pieces are lovingly handmade in our workshop in Hutton-le-Hole, nestled in the beautiful North York Moors.

We also carefully select jewellery from trusted suppliers to complement our handmade collections.

We work with beautiful gemstones, sterling silver and gold, creating jewellery that celebrates individuality and the natural world.

Because many of our pieces are handmade or feature natural gemstones, slight variations in colour, pattern, shape and finish are perfectly normal. These characteristics make each piece special.

How do I care for my jewellery?

With a little care, your jewellery can remain beautiful for many years.

We recommend:

• Removing jewellery before swimming, bathing, showering or exercising.

• Avoiding direct contact with perfumes, hairspray, lotions and household cleaning products.

• Storing jewellery somewhere clean and dry, preferably in its original packaging.

• Removing rings when carrying out heavy work or activities that could cause scratches or damage.

• Cleaning jewellery gently with a suitable jewellery polishing cloth.

Sterling Silver

Sterling silver naturally tarnishes over time when exposed to air, moisture and everyday chemicals.

For plain sterling silver jewellery, use a soft silver polishing cloth to restore its shine.

Avoid silver cleaning dips on jewellery containing gemstones, pearls, oxidised finishes or delicate decorative details, as these treatments may cause damage.

Gemstone Jewellery

Natural gemstones vary in hardness and sensitivity. Some can be damaged by water, heat, sunlight or cleaning chemicals.

We recommend gently wiping gemstone jewellery with a soft, dry cloth and avoiding prolonged exposure to water.

Never use ultrasonic cleaners or harsh chemical cleaning products unless they are specifically suitable for your gemstone.

Gold Vermeil & Gold-Filled Jewellery

Gold vermeil and gold-filled jewellery should be treated gently to help preserve their beautiful finish.

Avoid abrasive polishing, harsh chemicals and unnecessary exposure to water. Clean carefully with a soft, non-abrasive cloth.

How do I find my ring size?

Getting the correct ring size is important, particularly when purchasing a special piece of jewellery.

The most accurate way to determine your size is to visit a local jeweller and have your finger professionally measured.

Alternatively, you can use a ring-sizing tool at home.

Please remember that fingers can change size slightly depending on temperature and time of day.

Spinner Rings: We generally recommend choosing a slightly larger size for wide spinner rings, as they can fit more snugly than narrow bands.

If you're unsure about sizing, please contact us before ordering. We're happy to advise.

How do I choose the correct bracelet size?

Bracelet measurements are provided in individual product descriptions wherever applicable.

For fitted bracelets and bangles, please check the measurements carefully before ordering.

To measure your wrist, use a flexible measuring tape or a piece of string and a ruler. Measure around your wrist and allow a little additional room for comfort, depending on your preferred fit.

What necklace chain lengths do you offer?

Chain lengths vary depending on the design.

Available lengths and options are displayed in each individual product listing.

If you're looking for a particular length, please contact us and we'll let you know whether we can help.

Is your sterling silver jewellery hallmarked?

Where legally required, our precious metal jewellery is hallmarked in accordance with UK hallmarking regulations.

Sterling silver articles generally require hallmarking when the weight of the silver exceeds 7.78 grams, subject to the applicable rules and exemptions.

Lighter sterling silver pieces may legally be sold without a hallmark.

Are your gemstones natural?

We love working with beautiful natural gemstones, including Rainbow Moonstone, Labradorite, Amethyst, Turquoise, Whitby Jet and many others.

Our collections may also include laboratory-created gemstones, opals and other materials.

We aim to identify the materials used in each piece accurately in the product description.

Natural gemstones often contain inclusions, colour variations and distinctive markings. These are part of their individual character and beauty.

How is my jewellery packaged?

We believe receiving jewellery should feel special, whether it's a gift for someone you love or a little treat for yourself.

Our jewellery is carefully packaged using our eco-conscious packaging, which may include a jewellery box or cotton pouch, depending on the piece.

We take great care to ensure your order is beautifully presented and protected during delivery.

How long will my order take to arrive?

Most in-stock jewellery is dispatched within 1–2 working days.

Some handmade or made-to-order pieces require additional preparation time, usually up to 5 working days.

A small number of special-order designs may require up to 10 working days before dispatch. Where applicable, this will be clearly stated in the product description.

We offer the following UK delivery services:

• Royal Mail Tracked 48 — £3.95: Estimated delivery 3–5 business days.

• Royal Mail Tracked 24 — £4.95: Estimated delivery 1–2 business days.

• Royal Mail Special Delivery Priority — £9.75: Estimated delivery 1–2 business days.

• Free Royal Mail Tracked 24 delivery on orders of £85 or more.

Delivery estimates are separate from our dispatch and preparation times.

Please note that we do not dispatch orders on Fridays.

Can I collect my jewellery from your workshop?

Yes! Local collection is available for in-stock jewellery from our workshop in Hutton-le-Hole, North Yorkshire.

As we operate reduced opening hours during the winter months, please text 07525 775015 before collecting so we can arrange a convenient time.

Local collection is not currently available for made-to-order or special-order jewellery.

Can I return my jewellery?

Of course. We want you to be happy with your purchase.

If you change your mind about an eligible online purchase, please contact us within 14 days of receiving your jewellery to cancel your order.

You then have a further 14 days to return the item.

For change-of-mind returns, customers are responsible for return postage.

Certain items made to your individual specifications or clearly personalised may be excluded from change-of-mind returns. Hygiene-sealed earrings may also be excluded if the seal has been broken after delivery.

If an item is faulty, damaged or not as described, your statutory consumer rights still apply.

What if my jewellery arrives damaged or faulty?

We carefully inspect and package our jewellery before dispatch, but if something isn't right, please get in touch.

Email hello@earthandelements.co.uk with your order number and details of the issue. Photographs are helpful where possible.

We'll work with you to resolve the problem in accordance with your statutory consumer rights.

Can I order a custom piece of jewellery?

We create a variety of handmade jewellery designs and may be able to accommodate certain custom requests.

If you have a particular gemstone, ring design or special idea in mind, please contact us to discuss what's possible.

Custom work is subject to availability, materials and workshop capacity.

Where are you based?

Earth & Elements Jewellery is based at The Craft Workshops in Hutton-le-Hole, a beautiful village in the heart of the North York Moors, North Yorkshire.

Our workshop is a lovely place to discover unique jewellery, explore our collections and enjoy the charm of the surrounding village.
